How to Use Wikis in the Classroom

A wiki is a page that has resources, material, and other information that is collected by many people. Wikis are a way for people to collaborate and contribute to the topic being discussed. This allows for a social learning environment. Being able to collaborate allows many perspectives and ideas to be shared. Whether it is in the classroom or on your own, wikis build a community that have a common goal or topic. It is also an easy way to actively participate in resources and ideas in an engaging way. Some of the ways that "How to Use Wiki in the Classroom" by eLearning Industry include collaborating in research for papers, allow student to edit other's posts for grammar, debates, and reviews. These are all good ways to engage the students with collaboration. I like the grammar idea because students can be nervous when correcting their peers, but this way, it is stress free.

Hi my name is Anna Hebert and I am a first grade teacher! I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and earned my degree at Louisiana State University as an Early Childhood educator. I believe that children learn best through hands on activities and modeling. I think engaging activities and projects encourages whole body learning through fun experiences.

This is a site for educators and parents to reference to find helpful resources regarding educational activities, research, technology tips, and more! Here I will post activities and strategies that work for my class. Parents can find highlights of our class's growth and important announcements.
